Frequently Asked Questions
How do you make your illustrations?
My process varies depending on the project and complexity but for the most part I always start with a sketch on paper. I work out as much of the details as possible before I move to inking and painting on my iPad. Most of my work is digital but when I get into a creative funk, I enjoy spending some good quality time with my watercolor paints.
Can you illustrate my children’s book?
Of course I can but illustrating a kids books is a very lengthy process and takes a good bit of time. A good quality children’s book can take 3-6 months…often times longer. And for that, the fee is much higher than a regular commission piece. We can work out all the details before we get started. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions.
What brushes do you use?
I remember when I started I thought the brushes the artists use is the secret. After many, many, many attempts at copying my favorite artists, I realize their magic in creating their work was from hours of practice, skill, and preference. The brushes I use now are based on how I want my work to look. The magic is in you, not the brush. Keep practicing!
How can I commission a piece from you?
My commission work is my favorite because I have so much fun making your ideas come to life with my art. You tell me your idea, we figure up a price, how many figures, props, backgrounds, etc. once payment clears, I get to work. I’ll keep you in the loop through the entire process so there’s no unexpected surprises.
